[글로벌 CEO] 파완 고엔카 (Goenka) 전격 퇴진, 인도 자동차경영의 귀재 마힌드라(M&M)

인도 자동차 기업 경영의 귀재로 주목을 받아왔던 마힌드라&마힌드라 그룹의 파완 고엔카 사장이 물러난다.

이에 따라 파완 고엔카 사장은 마힌드라 그룸의 자회사인 쌍용 자동차 이사회 의장에서도 퇴진한다.

25일 뉴욕증시에 따르면 마힌드라 그룹은 최근 파완 고엔카 사장의 퇴진을 결정하고 그 후임으로 아니시 샤가를 내정했다.

이 인사는 2021년 4월 2일 시행된다. 그때까지는 고엔카 사장의 직위가 유지된다.
마힌드라 그룹은 또 회장인 아난드 마힌드라가 내년 4월부터 이사회에 참가해 비상임 회장(non-executive chairman)을 맡는다고 밝혔다.

마힌드라 & 마힌드라 그룹은 1945년에 창립된 인도 자동차 회사다. 영어로는 Mahindra & Mahindra, 힌디어로는 महिन्द्रा एण्ड महिन्द्रा लिमिटेड로 부른다.

인도에서는 마루티스즈키, 현대인디아,타타자동차에 이어 인도 4위의 자동차 제조회사이다. 트랙터 부문에서는 인도 1위 회사이다. 푸네, 나식, 하리드와르 등에 대규모공장이 있다. SUV를 포함한 승용차 시장점유율은 세계적으로 마루티, 현대에 이어 3위이다.

이 회사는 쌍용자동차의 대주주인 상하이차(SAIC Motor)가 2009년에 경영권을 포기하면서 법정 관리에 들어간 쌍용자동차를 2010년 인수했다.

파완 고엔카 (Goenka) 이력

Pawan Kumar Goenka is an Indian businessman, and the Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, an Indian multinational automobile manufacturing corporation headquartered in Mumbai, and the chairman of SsangYong Motor Company in Korea. Goenka did his schooling in Kolkata, India, and then earned his BTech in mechanical engineering from I.I.T. Kanpur and PhD from Cornell University, US. He attended a six-week Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He worked at General Motors R&D Centre in Detroit, U.S., from 1979 to 1993. Thereafter he joined Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., as general manager (R&D).

Goenka joined Mahindra in October 1993 as the general manager, R&D. He was appointed as the chief operating officer for the automotive sector in April 2003. In September 2005, he became the president of the automotive sector and by April 2010 he was the president of the automotive and farm equipment sectors. "He was appointed to the post of Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra in 2013 and in April 2014, he took over the additional responsibility of the two wheeler business. In Nov 2016 Dr Pawan Kumar Goenka was elevated to the post of Managing Director of M&M."
