힐튼 호텔 2세 배런 힐튼이 사망했다.

배런 힐튼은 생전에 CEO로 30년 동안 재직하면서 전 세계 3000개 호텔 힐튼 제국을 건설했다.

배런 힐튼은 힐튼 그룹의 창업자인 콘래드 N. 힐튼의 아들이다.

1927년 미국 댈러스에서 태어나 2차 세계대전 당시 해군 사진작가로 활동하다가 주스 음료 사업과 석유 사업, 항공기 임대업으로 재산을 모았다.

영어 풀 네임은 William Barron Hilton이다. 아메리칸 풋볼 리그(AFL)을 창립한 것으로 유명하다. 프로미식 축구팀 로스앤젤레스 차저스(the Los Angeles Chargers)를 창설하기도했다.

힐튼은 지난 2007년 "아버지의 뒤를 따르겠다"며 유산의 97%를 콘래드 M. 힐튼 자선재단에 넘기기로 약속한 바 있다. 그 약속대로 3%만 후손에게 물려주고 97%는 헌납했다. .
힐튼의 유족으로는 8명의 자녀와 15명의 손주, 4명의 증손이 있다.

The successor of hotelier Conrad Hilton, he was the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hilton Hotels Corporation and chairman emeritus of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Hilton, a notable pilot and outdoorsman, was also a founder of the American Football League as the original owner of the Los Angeles Chargers, and helped forge the merger with the National Football League that created the Super Bowl. Like his father before him, he pledged 97 percent of his wealth to the humanitarian work of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
