맥킨지는 26일 회사 내 최대 의결기구인 선임 파트터 회의가 케빈 스네이더(Kevin Sneader) 아시아태평양담당 회장을 맥킨지 글로벌 회장으로 추대했다고 밝혔다. (Kevin Sneader has been elected the new global managing partner of McKinsey & Company.)
케빈 스네이더 새 회장은 올 7월 1일 공식 취임하게 된다. 임기는 그때부터 3년간이다. (Kevin will serve a three-year term beginning on 1 July 2018.)
현 도미닉 바튼 회장은 임기만료로 퇴임한다. 도미닉 바튼 회장은 3번 연속 회장을 맡아왔다. 3년씩 모두 9년 동안의 임기가 곧 끝난다. 맥킨지는 내부 규정으로 회장의 4연임을 허용하지 않고 있다.
맥킨지의 한 해 매출은 2017년 100억달러를 조금 넘었다. 달러당 환율을 1100원으로 잡을 때 100억달러는 우리 돈으로 11조원에 상당한다.
케빈 스네이더 신임회장은 스코틀랜드 출신이다. 미국 하버드 비즈니스 스쿨에서 경영학 석사학위를 취득한 이른바 하버드 MBA이다. 하버드 MBA를 취득하기 전에는 영국 글래스고(University of Glasgow) 대학에서 법학을 공부했다. 글래스고 대학은 경제학의 아버지로 추앙받는 국부론의 저자 애덤 스미스가 공부하고 가르친 곳이다
케빈 스네이더 신임 회장은 한국 중국 일본 호주 등에 능통한 아시아 전문가다.
Kevin Sneader is the chairman of McKinsey's 27 offices spanning the Asia-Pacific region including China, India, South East Asia, Korea, Japan, and Australia.
Kevin was first based in Asia in the mid-1990s when he moved from London to Beijing to help build the firm's Greater China Office. Since then, he has worked across the region and beyond, branching out from an initial focus on the consumer and healthcare industries to serve a broad range of clients in multiple industries and functions across strategy, organization and operations.
Prior to taking up his current role, Kevin was managing partner of McKinsey's practice in the United Kingdom & Ireland. Before London, he led McKinsey's offices in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States which includes Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.
Kevin holds a first-class honours degree in law from his home town's University of Glasgow. He went on to graduate from the Harvard Business School from which he received an MBA with highest distinction and was designated a Baker Scholar.
Kevin has long been involved in charitable and professional causes and has served, for example, on the board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Council for Higher Education, and the International Board of Scottish Enterprise.
