[로이터 시각] 뉴욕증시 엔화 환율 급락 이유는…쓰촨성 중국지진 + 트럼프 불바다(fire)

[글로벌이코노믹 김대호 기자] 북한 미사일 실험으로 한반도 긴장이 고조되고 있는 가운데 특히 미국과 북한의 신경전이 가열되고 있다.

이와 관련 로이터 통신은 미국과 북한의 안보 대치에 관해 집중 분석기사를 내보냈다.
로이터 통신은 특히 트럼프 대통령의 불바다 발언을 주목했다.

트럼프 대통령은 휴가지에서 븍한이 위협을 계속한다면 불바다 화염과 분노를 안겨주겠다고 발언했다. (President Donald Trump warned North Korea on Tuesday it would face "fire and fury" if it threatens the United States)

트럼프 대통령이 "fire and fury"라는 불바다 발언을 공개적으로 한 것은 이번이 처음이다.

로이터는 이에 대해 북한은 미국에 대한 미사일 공습으로 맞서고 있다고 보도 했다. (The nuclear-armed nation to say it was considering firing missiles at Guam, a U.S.-held Pacific island.)

로이터는 미국이 북한 공격을 하면 북한뿐 아니라 한국과 일본도 함께 심각한 사태를 맞게 될 것이라고 내다 보았다.(The consequences of any U.S. strike would potentially be catastrophic not only for North Koreans but also South Korea, Japan and the thousands of U.S. military personnel within range of any North Korean retaliatory strikes.

북한이 한반도 남쪽과 일본에 있는 미군을 겨냥하여 공습을 할 가능성이 높기 때문이다.
로이터는 이날 뉴욕증시와 국제유가가 하락반전 한 것도 트럼프의 불바다 발언으로 공포 분위기가 고조되었기 때문으로 해석했다.(U.S. stocks closed y lower after Trump’s comment, while a widely followed measure of stock market anxiety ended at its highest in nearly a month.
