몽키하우스의 사전적 의미는 사회 경제적으로 하자있는 이웃들이 많이 몰려 있는 마을이다.
종교적 소수자가 집단적으로 거주하는 마을도 영어에서 몽키하우스로 부른다.
인종 소수자 집단 거주지도 마친가지다.
이런 유형의 몽키하우스는 주변에 주변에 적지 않다.
중국인 들이 많이 몰려사는 신촌 일대에도 몽키하우스가 있는 셈이다.
여인 수용소만 몽키하우스는 아니다.
한남동과 이태원의 일부 지역도 외국인들이 몰려산다는 점에서 일종의 몽키하우스다.
몽키하우스를 손가락질 하기보다는 포용하면서 함께 하는 자세가 절실한 상황이다.
더 이상 우리 주변에서 몽키하우스가 없으졌으면 한다.
